Located in the Old City Quarter of Downtown Nanaimo, Charcoal is eagerly approaching their 1-year anniversary (July 1, 2018!).

This cosy storefront features jewellery, paintings, sculptures, textiles, tinctures, and of course, Henna & Henna Workshops.

Henna is a plant-based paste. made from the leaves of a 'Lawsonia Inermis' shrub, then mixed with essential oils, lemon juice & sugar.
- The natural dye from the leaves penetrates your skin, leaving your beautiful design lasting as long as three weeks!

Charcoal aims to not only expand the artistic, cultural hub in downtown Nanaimo but to support emerging & professional local artists alike.

This cozy central store front will feature diverse artwork: jewellery, paintings, illustrations, sculpture, textiles, tinctures, and the list goes on. If you create, we’d love to consider!

We’ll also be hosting monthly arts events featuring art, music, snacks, and the Henna Lounge. Henna is a plant-based, all natural paste that stains the skin temporarily with intricate traditional and innovative Indian designs. As one of the only mid-island shops to feature henna, people have come from all over for individual and group Henna parties.

Making the heritage building its home, Charcoal is located right in the heart of Old City Quarter. Charming, central, and whimsical: a great location for ample artist exposure.
