The Online Responsible Adult course meets the BC Child Care Licensing Act requirements for individuals to have at least 20 hours of childcare training including safety, child development, and nutrition in order to work with children.

The BC licensing requirements are the highest provincial licensing requirements in Canada. This training can qualify job seekers in all provinces of Canada to gain the experience necessary for working with children.

At the end of the course, students write an open book final exam and receive a certificate of completion. Passing mark is 70%, re-takes available as necessary

Roxanne Penner is the owner of 4Pillar Early Learning Centre in Powell River, BC. She is a licensed Early Childhood Educator, workshop facilitator, and ECE trainer. She also works as a family coach and has been active as a foster parent through the Ministry of Children and families for over 17 years. Roxanne has been teaching the skills for the Responsible Adult course via in-person workshops for over 10 years. Now, this course is available online for those whose schedule or location does not permit them from taking the training in person.
