The commercial kitchen we are using at present is closing. We need a commercial kitchen to make the meals- bagged lunches and soup- in order to keep our VIHA permit.
A building has been found that we could rent and renovate to become a commercial kitchen. We need financial help to rent the building, purchase equipment and supplies and operate the kitchen.We are requesting ongoing assistance to keep our program running.

Wisteria Community Association (WCA)---Stone Soup became a Registered Charity in December 2019. We are a member of FoodRescue.ca.

Since March 2020 ( Covid-19) we have provided a bagged lunch nightly from 6-8 pm on Wesley Street to homeless and low income individuals. .(Over 15,000 bagged lunches todate). It is the only Soup Kitchen in Nanaimo, operating from 6pm to 8pm every day.

Any donations will be tax deductible as we are a registered Charity

Stone Soup was an initiative created by members of the Wisteria Community Association in order to feed the homeless, low income and working poor of Nanaimo on a daily basis.

The formation of the Wisteria Community Association grew out of the transformation and beautification of Wisteria Lane -what used to be an alley between Nicol Street and Victoria Road in Nanaimo. The Association was established by a group of friends and neighbours who wanted to do more for their community. They've gone on to host annual events to feed local homeless, low income and working poor citizens of Nanaimo and hosted the Stone Soup Kitchen - the only soup kitchen in Nanaimo, operating from 6pm to 10pm every day.
