This 20-hour online training enables job seekers to gain the skills necessary to work as an assistant in Licensed Child Care Facilities in B.C.
- the government of BC has now mandated Responsible Adult Course training for all individuals working with children.

Through interactive sessions, this course covers basic concepts about child development from birth to 12 years old, child guidance, health, safety & nutrition.

The Home Day Care Course is a certified Family Day Care training that gives caregivers the qualifications necessary to open a day care in their own home.

The Online Responsible Adult course and Home Day Care course meet the BC Child Care Licensing Act requirements for individuals to have at least 20 hours of childcare training including safety, child development, and nutrition in order to work with children.

The BC licensing requirements are the highest provincial licensing requirements in Canada. This training can qualify job seekers in all provinces of Canada to gain the experience necessary for working with children.

The Responsible Adult course meets the BC Child Care Licensing Act requirements for individuals to have at least 20 hours of childcare training including safety, child development and nutrition in order to work with children.
The course is completely self-paced. Students can start at any time and take the final exam when they are ready. At the end of the course, students will write an open book final exam, and will receive a certificate of completion. Passing mark is 70%, and the exam is available to re-take until a passing score is achieved.

Roxanne Penner is the owner of 4Pillar Early Learning Centre in Powell River, BC. She is a licensed Early Childhood Educator, workshop facilitator, and ECE trainer. She also works as a family coach and has been active as a foster parent through the Ministry of Children and families for over 17 years. Roxanne has been teaching the skills for the Responsible Adult course via in-person workshops for over 10 years. Now, this course is available online for those whose schedule or location does not permit them from taking the training in person.
