The Oceanfront Hotel is conveniently located right on the waterfront in the heart of historic Sointula. Drive to Port McNeill and catch the BC Ferry to Sointula. If you are lucky, you might see some whales on your way! Our wonderful museum is open by appointment and, if you are here on a Tuesday or Saturday, you are welcome to join us for Bilge Boogie in the old pub. You can dance your heart out with no one watching. Great stress release!! Bring running shoes since it is a cement floor.

Local hiking club's go on expeditions to Lizard Point and nearby petroglyphs, old growth forests and beaches, and spectacular coastal views over to the mainland mountains; there's never a lack of exploring, and even 3 days wouldn't be enough to cover it all!

We have a great thrift shop full of treasures and a recycling centre where you can shop the free store. We seldom have cougars or bears on the island, so you can hike our beautiful trails with no worry. Visit our artists' studios or just hang out on your oceanfront deck and watch the world go by. You can also take a day trip to Alert Bay for free. Leave on the 11am ferry. Check out the museum and the totem poles. Return home by 4:30 to your cozy room and enjoy the fabulous sunset!

Verrry friendly bar staff - Vincent from Ireland & Mallory from TO. Shelly, who is, in my opinion, one of the best cooks in the Northern Islands area, is as friendly & cheery, & good hearted as her co workers -with kitchen staff who's hearts & smiles are reflections of the whole small population of aaaall those living on Malcolm Island. It's a biiig step back in time, that upon docking, brings a lasting & amazing peace like many seldom know."

"The Cove Adventure Tours crew spent a lovely evening at The Oceanfront Hotel this week. We had an ocean view room with a protected balcony and a cozy fireplace. We visited with the owner/manager, Robin, who is very friendly and gave us lots of information and advice about exploring the island. The hotel itself is very well taken care of and our room had been recently renovated. We sat on the balcony for most of the evening and watched sea birds, eagles, and the glass-calm water. We toured around Sointula the next day and hiked the Matejoa Heritage Trail, visited Bere Point and Mitchell Bay, had delicious fish and chips at the Burger Barn, and bought lovely homemade soaps from Nan's Hands. We would definitely recommend The Oceanfront Hotel and Sointula to anyone who wants to getaway and have a peaceful and nature-filled experience."
