Soap for Hope is a program of Disaster Aid Canada that began on Vancouver Island two years ago to help shelters and marginalized people in the community. The organization's mission is to provide humanitarian aid, shelter, sustainable water systems and hygiene products to people affected by natural and other disasters; or with compelling local need. The Soap for Hope program focuses on fulfilling the hygiene needs of communities locally and globally.

Soap for hope achieves this goal by collecting gently used or unused soap and hygiene products from the hotel industry and the public that would otherwise be discarded. Our volunteers reprocess these items to redistribute to those in need. Soap and shampoo are also used in international projects and disaster situations in our Disaster Aid Relief Kits. In doing so, the program is not only diverting hundreds of thousands of plastic bottles from landfills but also fulfilling a local and international need for hygiene products, helping people stay healthy and dignified. Last year alone, Soap for Hope serviced over 30 local shelters, 19 countries, and 30 different hotels. 

As a local non-profit and registered charity, we provide hygiene kits at no cost to shelters, however this is draining on our resources. Currently, we are in need of volunteers to help with processing soaps, organizing fundraisers and doing pick-ups from hotels, as well as our ever present need for donations.
